The New Obesity Paradigm
Jens-Christian Holm represents a paradigm shift in regards to childhood obesity through his professional knowledge and edgy attitudes. The obesity paradigm shift is based on; 1. that obesity is understood as chronic disease, 2. that the human fat mass is regulated by an ingenious hormonal system, and 3. an innovative public health education which in itself represents a paradigm shift.
Jens-Christian Holm has developed the treatment strategy for obese children and adolescents, and it is based on a pedagogy that has created outstanding results and where key words as knowledge, quality, authenticity, understanding, dignity, empathy and good service are vital. The treatment strategy demands only 5 hours of health professional time spent per child per year. With this effort 75-90% of obese children reduce their degree of obesity in both primary and secondary care sectors, the parents of the children reduce their degree of obesity, as well as the children's elevated blood pressure, cholesterols, ectopic fat and overall improvement in quality of life.
Obesity is a chronic disease
Fundamentally, obesity needs to be understood as a chronic disease as declared by the American Medical Association in 2013 and the Canadian Medical Association in 2015. A chronic disease in which the body sustains its fat mass through an extremely elegant hormone system which has existed for hundreds of millions of years, and a chronic disease that is associated with more than 20 serious medical and psychological complications which in different ways, increases morbidity, reduces life expectancy and in many ways invalidates millions of human lives all over the globe.
Through communication and project development, Jens-Christian Holm is dedicated to any activity that can improve the well-being and health of children and adolescents.
